Art Deco 2.0: Luxe Design with a Modern Edge

I recently had the pleasure of designing a 1920s-inspired bar area for a private residence, and it stands as a true testament to the enduring allure of Art Deco. The space is filled with glamorous elements, from rich brass detailing and decadent marble surfaces to those irresistible curves and sculptural silhouettes that define the era. However, I ensured that while paying homage to Art Deco’s grandeur, the space remains sleek and modern—blending vintage elegance with contemporary practicality.

So, what is it about Art Deco that continues to captivate designers and homeowners alike? The answer lies in its ability to blend grandeur with liveability. Over the recent years, I have loved incorporating wood veneer wallcoverings with a geometric weave offering the perfect nod to Art Deco without overwhelming the space.
