Using your personal information in a way that you are comfortable with, and keeping it secure, is an integral part of the experience we aim to provide. This policy explains what personal information Touched Interiors collects, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. It reflects the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the changes made by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

For any question about this policy or your personal information, please email our data protection team at data.protection@touchedinteriors.co.uk, call +44 (0)161 722 1983 or write to us at Touched Interiors® Limited, 26 Blackfriars Street, Manchester, M3 5JS, United Kingdom.
What personal information do we collect?
The information we collect depends on how you choose to interact with us. It can include:
- Title and name
- Email address and phone number(s)
- Delivery and billing addresses
- Date of birth, where you choose to give it
- Purchase and enquiry history
- Payment details (card payments are processed securely by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers)
- For trade accounts: your company name, role, business address and VAT or company details
- For interior design projects: information about your property, plans, photographs, budgets and preferences that you share with our designers
On occasion, we may also collect:
- Information collected through cookies and similar technologies (see ‘Cookies and similar technologies’ below)
- Records of your interactions with us, for example when you contact our team, visit our Manchester showroom or use one of our services
- Lifestyle information, such as your interests, to tailor a personal shopping or design service. If you choose to share more sensitive information with us, such as health information or religious beliefs (for example, to plan a home around accessibility needs or important festivals), we will only use it with your explicit consent.
How we collect your information
You give us information directly when you make a purchase in our showroom, online, by telephone or by invoice; when you send an enquiry, book a consultation or request a quote; when you apply for a trade account; when you sign up to our emails; and when you enter a competition or register for an event.
We also collect some information indirectly. For example, our website and emails use cookies and similar technologies, our delivery partners may tell us about a change to your delivery details, and if we are told you no longer live at the address we hold, we will update our records.
How we use your information, and our lawful bases
We only use your personal information where the law allows us to. We rely on the following lawful bases:
- Contract: to take and fulfil your order, arrange delivery and installation, provide our interior design, procurement and curtain services, manage your account and handle returns and aftercare.
- Legal obligation: to keep financial and tax records, prevent fraud and money laundering, and respond to lawful requests from the police, HMRC or other authorities.
- Legitimate interests: to run and improve our business, website and services, keep our premises and systems secure, understand how our website is used, and tell existing customers about similar products and services. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced our interests against your rights and you can object at any time.
- Recognised legitimate interests: in limited cases, such as sharing information to help prevent or detect crime, to safeguard a vulnerable person or in an emergency, the law recognises these purposes as legitimate without a separate balancing test.
- Consent: for marketing where consent is required, for optional cookies and advertising technologies, and for any sensitive information you choose to share. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Information collected when you make a purchase
When you buy from us in our showroom, at touchedinteriors.co.uk, by telephone or by invoice, we collect the information we need to fulfil your order or chosen service. If you pay by card, your payment is processed by our payment providers. We may ask for additional information to prevent fraudulent transactions and to comply with anti-money laundering obligations.
When an order will be delivered, collected or provided at a later date, we take contact and delivery details so we can complete it. We share these details with our delivery and installation partners for that purpose only.
Online shopping
Our website runs on Shopify, which hosts it on our behalf. Touched Interiors remains the controller of the personal information collected through our website. When you place an order you can check out as a guest or create an account; to create an account we ask for your name and contact details.
Interior design, procurement and trade services
When you use our interior design, design and build, personal procurement, private shopping, curtain and blind, custom design or trade services, a designer or member of our team will collect the information needed to deliver the service. This may include details of your property, drawings, photographs and preferences. Where we need to order from a brand or manufacturer, or appoint a contractor, we will share only the details they need to supply or install your pieces.
If you apply for a trade account, we use the information you provide to assess your application, manage your account and send trade quotations.
CCTV
For your safety, and for the prevention and detection of crime, CCTV operates in our showroom. If the police or another authority investigating suspected unlawful activity requests footage that includes images of you, we may be legally obliged to provide it.
Competitions, events and surveys
When you enter a competition, prize draw or giveaway, or register for one of our events, we use your information to run it, contact winners and follow up afterwards, for example with a short survey. If you give us the details of a guest, please make sure they are happy for you to do so. We delete this information once it is no longer needed.
Brand partners occasionally run their own promotions or events with us. Information you give directly to them is governed by their own privacy policies.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted organisations that help us run our business, and only as much as they need. These include:
- Our website and ecommerce platform (Shopify) and our payment providers
- Delivery, installation and logistics partners
- Brands, manufacturers and contractors, where needed to supply or install your order
- Email marketing, customer service, form and review tools
- Analytics and advertising providers such as Google and Meta, where you have agreed to the relevant cookies or marketing
- Our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers
- The police, HMRC, regulators or courts, where the law requires or allows it
These organisations must keep your information secure and may only use it for the purposes we set out.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, such as Shopify, Google and Meta, store or process information outside the UK, including in the European Economic Area, Canada and the United States. When your information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it remains protected to a standard that is not materially lower than in the UK. We do this by relying on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US Data Bridge, where the recipient is certified) or on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
Managing your marketing communications
We will only send you marketing by email or text where you have agreed to receive it or, if you have bought from us or enquired about a purchase, where we tell you about similar products and services and you have not opted out. Every marketing email includes an ‘Unsubscribe’ link and every text a ‘STOP’ option. You can also change your preferences at any time by emailing enquiries@touchedinteriors.co.uk or calling +44 (0)161 722 1983. We will act on your request as soon as possible, and within one month at the latest.
To keep our lists current, we may periodically remind you how to manage your preferences or ask you to confirm that you still wish to hear from us. If you do not, we will stop sending you marketing.
If you have agreed to receive marketing from us, we may share your email address or mobile number in an encrypted (hashed) form with advertising platforms such as Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Pinterest, so that we can show you relevant advertising or reach people with similar interests. You can object to this at any time by emailing data.protection@touchedinteriors.co.uk, and you can also manage advertising preferences in your settings on those platforms.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit our website. Similar technologies, such as pixels in our emails, work in the same way. We use them in the following ways:
- Strictly necessary: to make the website work, for example to keep items in your basket, keep you signed in, remember your cookie choices, process checkout and protect the site against fraud and security threats. These do not need your consent.
- Functionality and preferences: to remember choices such as your currency or recently viewed items. Where these only adapt the site to your preferences, the law allows us to use them without asking first, provided we tell you about them and you can object easily and free of charge using our cookie settings.
- Statistics and analytics: to understand how the website is used so we can improve it. We will only use analytics without asking first where it is limited to aggregated statistics used solely to improve our website; you can switch it off at any time in our cookie settings. Analytics that go further, for example Google Analytics features linked to advertising, are only used with your consent.
- Marketing and advertising: to show you relevant advertising on other websites and social media and to measure our campaigns, using technologies from providers such as Google and Meta. These are only used with your consent.
You can accept or refuse optional cookies when you first visit our website, and change your choice at any time using the ‘Cookie Preferences’ link in the footer of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the website may then not work properly.
How do we keep your information secure?
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we require our service providers to do the same. Our website uses encryption to protect information sent to us, but no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please never send sensitive details, such as passwords or card numbers, by email or messaging services such as WhatsApp.
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password secure. Please do not share it with anyone.
How long do we keep your information?
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or where the law requires us to. As a guide, we keep order, invoice and project records for up to 6 years after your last purchase or project, to meet our accounting, tax and legal obligations. We keep marketing preferences for as long as you remain subscribed, and we delete enquiry, competition and event information once it is no longer needed. For more detail, please contact data.protection@touchedinteriors.co.uk.
Your rights
You have the following rights over your personal information:
- Access: to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (a subject access request)
- Correction: to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: to ask us to delete your information
- Restriction: to ask us to limit how we use your information
- Portability: to receive information you have given us in a commonly used electronic format, or have it sent to another organisation
- Objection: to object to our use of your information based on legitimate interests and, at any time, to its use for direct marketing
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, to withdraw it at any time
- Automated decisions: we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have a legal or similarly significant effect. If we ever did, you would be told, and you could make representations, ask for a person to review the decision and contest it.
To use any of these rights, contact us at data.protection@touchedinteriors.co.uk or using the details above. We will respond within one month. We may need to confirm your identity, or ask you to clarify your request, before we can respond; the one-month period starts once we have what we need. In response to an access request we will carry out reasonable and proportionate searches. We may need to withhold some information, for example to protect the privacy of other people or where the law allows us to.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You can complain by emailing data.protection@touchedinteriors.co.uk (with ‘Data protection complaint’ in the subject line), by using the form on our contact page, by calling +44 (0)161 722 1983 or by writing to us at the address above. We will:
- acknowledge your complaint within 30 days of receiving it
- look into it properly and without undue delay
- keep you updated on our progress
- tell you the outcome
You also have the right to complain to the UK data protection regulator, the Information Commission (which continues to operate as the ICO). You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns first.
Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
Contacting us
When you contact us through any channel, including by phone, post, email, chat or social media, we use your information to respond to your query, request or feedback. If you contact us through a messaging or social media service such as WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, that service will also handle your information under its own privacy policy. Calls may be recorded for quality, training and security purposes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change to the way we use your personal information, we will tell you in the communications you already receive from us. The latest version is always available at touchedinteriors.co.uk, with the date it was last updated shown below.
